Pasta with Peas and Ham

8 oz. small shells
1/2 small onion - chopped
1/2 bell pepper - chopped
3/4 cup frozen peas
1 cup ham - chopped
1/4 cup Parmesan
2 T. butter   3 T. oil

Cook pasta al dente.  Save 1/2 cup pasta water.  Drain pasta.  In saucepan with oil.... saute onion and bell pepper.  Add ham, pasta, peas, Parmesan and butter.  Stir and add as much pasta water as needed for creaminess.  The peas will cook just enough as everything warms together.

I saw the recipe at Dinner: A Love Story.  This one is just a tad bit different but mostly the same ingredients.  I love reading their blog.  Their stories always make me smile.

Now this really appeals to me today -- but I have no ham. Darnit.

Hmm this sounds great except the peas, I'd replace with carrots :-)

LOL I knew you would say that! I was waiting for a comment like that ever since I posted last weeks recipe, which has peas too. Really Jenn..they just give the dish a very sweet flavor. :)

My daughter would absolutely love this! Peas, ham, and pasta are her favorites! And maybe I can talk her into making it since she's been taking an interest in cooking :)
